A Richmond-based sports bar and grill and a salad-focused restaurant are coming to Fredericksburg’s Eagle Village shopping area.

The Home Team Grill has signed a lease for the largest space, about 4,800 square feet, at the mixed-use shopping center the University of Mary Washington Foundation is having built across U.S. 1 from campus. It will be in the retail space closest to the student apartments.

UMW announced the lease yesterday in addition to news that Salad Creations will be renting a 1,600-square-foot space at Eagle Village. That makes six tenants that have been announced, five of which have a food or beverage focus.

The Home Team Grill has two locations in Richmond, one in the Fan District near Virginia Commonwealth University and the other in the West End. The Fredericksburg location will include a large outdoor patio and plans to broadcast national and international sporting events.

Salad Creations–which has a variety of salads, wraps and sandwiches–is headquartered in south Florida and has more than 50 locations. The Eagle Village franchise will be operated by Samer E. Shalaby, who is opening a location in Stafford Marketplace as well. Shalaby is also president of Stafford-based Development Consulting Services.

The other announced tenants for the new retail space at Eagle Village are Lee’s Cleaners, Quiznos, Pancho Villa Express and Blackstone Coffee. UMW says it continues to negotiate additional leases and will announce them as they’re finalized.

The stores are expected to start opening this fall. The 654-bed Eagle Landing student apartments will all be full when the complex opens in August.
